Sacred V.O.I.C.E.
for
Preachers  &  Ministers with Post-Traumatic Church Syndrome

What is Sacred V.O.I.C.E.?

Sacred V.O.I.C.E.   is a program for Christian preachers and ministers who have experienced church-hurt or post-traumatic church syndrome (PTCS) designed to help them heal, reclaim their Call, and proclaim the gospel in more effective and compelling ways.  Utilizing “VOICE” as a preaching activity, metaphor, and acronym, the Sacred V.O.I.C.E. program identifies and focuses on five types of preaching voices designed to help Christian preachers and ministers with PTCS proclaim the gospel to a variety of audiences in more engaging and effective ways:
  • Voice of Vulnerability
  • Voice of Originality
  • Voice of  Integrity
  • Voice of Courage
  • Voice of Empathy.
What is Post-Traumatic Church Syndrome (PTCS)?

"Post-Traumatic Church Syndrome" (PTCS) is not to be confused with a mental health disorder or medical condition.  However, according to author, Reba Riley, “Post-Traumatic Church Syndrome” describes the  experiences of Christian women and men who have separated from the local church as a result of church-hurt.  For the purpose of this Sacred V.O.I.C.E. program, the Christian women and men are preachers and ministers.
What is Church-Hurt?

"Church-hurt" is institutional abuses of power by church leaders and other professing Christians within local church congregations (i.e., spiritual abuse & misuse of the Bible; psychological manipulation; sexual assault, and sexual harassment).
What is Soul-Thirst?

"Soul-thirst" describes the yearning or longing for connection with the Divine and Community that many Christian women and men with PTCS experience following separation from their local church.
Questions:

1) What are the effects of church-hurt and PTCS on the Preacher's ability to preach in effective and compelling ways?
2) What are the effects of church-hurt and PTCS on the literal and figurative voice of the Preacher?
3) What impact does church-hurt and PTCS have on the Preacher's ability to hear the sacred Voice of God and their "Call" to preach?
Objectives:

1) Identify the effects of church-hurt and PTCS on the literal and figurative voice of the Preacher.
2) Identify the effects of church-hurt and PTCS of the Preacher's ability to hear the sacred VOICE of God
3) Claim and/or Re-claim their ability to hear their "Call" to preach the Gospel from the sacred voice of the Holy One, which is often deafened by church-hurt.
4) Proclaim the Gospel with a voice of authority by the power of the Holy Spirit in ways that compel hearers to desire a personal and salvific relationship with God through Jesus the Christ.
What is S.I.P. & S.U.P.?

The objectives outlined above will be accomplished through a series of "S.I.P. & S.U.P." groups, webinars, workshops, and retreats comprised of the following six components:
